The Gabriola Radio Society’s request for a third one-year extension, until November of next year, to launch 98.7 CKGI-FM Gabriola Island (BC) has been denied.

Comedy Hour.’ Those bowing off the world stage Nov. 5th include Fred MacMurray, Johnny Horton, Bobby Hadfield of the Righteous Bothers, Bobby Nunn and Billy Guy of ‘The Coasters’ (16 years apart); bandleader Guy Lombardo (pictured), and career Canadian broadcasters Norm Marshall and Sid Boyling. “You will HAVE to work an 8 hour day.” What? “You will HAVE to work an 8 hour day.” The person telling me this was Marconi Award winner and legendary Detroit morning man, Dick Purtan. He was answering a question that I was kidding him about after his show.

“The Seattle Seahawks 12th man are growing increasingly tired of the negative remarks that are consistently made against our team by Fox Sports commentators Troy Aikman & Joe Buck."

“We’re happy to report the procedure went well and he is currently recuperating from the surgery,” the network said in a statement. “As a result, ‘The Daily Show’ will air an encore tonight. We expect him back with an original episode tomorrow.”

Mack hasn’t been in the Kamloops Broadcast Centre since those early years, but he’s returning this week as he comes to town twice on a tour promoting his book. He said he’s looking forward to the visit.
