Anchor/reporter Calvin To came to CHEK earlier this month after graduating from the broadcast program at Ryerson University in 2012, and gaining experience at Global Saskatoon and at CTV Toronto & Saskatoon.

Russell had heart bypass surgery in July and was recovering from that at the time of his death. Besides his music, he was known for his striking appearance: wispy white hair halfway down his back and that covered much of his face.
