Ottawa's Country 101.1 FM plans to launch a "girl-power hour" starting Monday that's dedicated to giving women a brighter spotlight.

Former WSU quarterback Alex Brink will take over as the network’s radio analyst for home and away football broadcasts, replacing fellow Cougar record-holder Jason Gesser, who’d held the position the last four years.

The C’s will honour Russell Saturday at The Nat with a spot in their broadcast and journalism hall of fame. There will be a ceremony before the 7:05 p.m. game against the Boise Hawks.

The veteran journalist had been working as a celebrity columnist for the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
