IT WAS MAY 24th .. when the Canadian Parliament passed a bill establishing the CBC as a national broadcasting system … When Nanaimo BC got its own 250 watt radio station, CHUB 1570, with the first day featuring live coverage of the Empire Day Parade … When Randy Bachman and his Canadian band the Guess Who made their U.S. television debut on ABC’s “American Bandstand”… ..and when Dean Martin (pictured with The Golddiggers) concluded his 9-year run as star of a weekly variety show on NBC-TV. Original CKNW Staffer Ferdy Baglo Dead at 93

At the age of 16 Baglo was hired at Vancouver radio station CKMO. In 1944, when CKNW radio was established, he was asked to be their first music director, and felt privileged to be a key member of their original staff.

RIP Dick France, Technician at CBC Vancouver & CKWX, aged 90

Dick was part of the production team for CBC Vancouver programs Cariboo Country (1960), The Education of Phyllistine (1964), The Beachcombers (1972-1990), Canadian Gardener (1989) and Spilled Milk (1995).
