Burton Lorne Cummings OC OM (born December 31, 1947) is a Canadian musician, singer, and songwriter from WinnipegManitoba. He is best known for leading The Guess Who during that band’s most successful period from 1966 to 1975, and for a lengthy solo career.

Cummings has been inducted into the Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame and the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, and has been cited as one of the most influential performers in Canadian rock music.[3] He has also been named as an officer of the Order of Canada and Order of Manitoba.[4] The Burton Cummings Theatre in Winnipeg is named in his honour.[5]

  1. It annoys me that Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman are not in the Rock Hall of Fame. I would say the Guess Who should be in but if not surely Cummings’ and Bachman’s time in the Guess Who, Cummings as a solo artist, Bachman in BTO and the two working together again today has to count for something over a 50 year international wide career. The same is true for Bryan Adams. The only Canadians in the hall are Neil Young Joni Mitchell, the Band, Leonard Cohen and Rush. I love Dolly Parton even more for dropping out of Hall contention. Without saying as much she pointed out the Hall’s flaws.
