Thanks to our facebook friend Ron Polillo
for sharing the sad news on the passing of Mike Benny

Yesterday, I was deeply saddened to find out that my longtime co-worker and friend, the legendary Mike Benny passed away after a 2 year fight with lung cancer. Mike touched thousands of lives and was a mentor and teacher for me and all his co-workers!He entertained and informed two generations of listeners and did it with such class, personality and humility! In his 35 years on air in Prince George, he came to work everyday with so much passion, positivity and that witty sense of humour! There is no doubt that we were blessed to enjoy such a talent in Prince George for so many years? But even more impressive, he was a great father, a dedicated family man and person who gave willingly of his time and talent! I was truly blessed to have worked with Mike for 27 years and I know his legacy will live on thru his family, friends and the countless broadcasters he touched. My most sincere condolences to the entire Benny family. R.I.P Michael Gordon Benny??

  1. Mike was one of the first people I listened to and paid attention to when I was a 10 year old kid yearning to be a radio DJ. He lived a few doors down from one of my friends and was the nicest guy in real life. I will always remember his natural upbeat delivery, as well as his hosting duties on Spruce Capital Rocks, a weekly music video show on CKPG.

    RIP Mr. Benny
