The MSNBC host released a new statement on Friday, “apologizing again” for her past writing, and the network backed her up.
MSNBC is backing Joy Reid, even as more of her controversial, offensive blog posts have been resurfaced.
The cable network issued a statement of support for Joy Reid on Friday, coupled with a new apology from the host about her past blog posts. However, she did not take ownership of a new set of posts allegedly written by her more than a decade ago.
“Some of the things written by Joy on her old blog are obviously hateful and hurtful,” the network said Friday. “They are not reflective of the colleague and friend we have known at MSNBC for the past seven years. Joy has apologized publicly and privately and said she has grown and evolved in the many years since, and we know this to be true.”
In her own, lengthy statement, Reid said she’s “sincerely apologizing again” for her past writings, which are alledged to include homophobic blog posts.
“While I published my blog, starting in 2005, I wrote thousands of posts in real time on the issues of the day,” Reid said in part. “There are things I deeply regret and am embarrassed by, things I would have said differently and issues where my position has changed. Today I’m sincerely apologizing again.”
Reid continued: “I’m sorry for the collateral damage and pain this is causing individuals and communities caught in the crossfire.”
She also addressed specific, new blog posts resurfaced by BuzzFeed News that have her byline, including one that featured a doctored image of Sen. John McCain on the body of the Virginia Tech shooter.

Of course /MSNBC stand by Reid.
Would you expect anything else?
The reason she is/was the way she is/was is because of Donald Trump.
And guess what? Trump will also be blamed for the soon to be next Pregnancy of Kim Kardashian.
After all they did spend time together the other day.
I believe it may have something to do with Osmosis.
First, I do not want any person’s words, posts and such banned nor do I want any person to have their job lost or otherwise punitive measures based on FREE SPEECH if on their own time. Free speech may be tempered or have consequences if on the job or in another person’s private place.
Rosanne spoke inappropriate talk on her time on her Twitter page, she should not have had any job/career/business actions done against her. The public can choose to ignore her or punish her by avoiding her t.v show and or any future business endeavor.
Joy Reid should be held to the same standards, NEITHER her nor Rosanne should have job loss or such, BUT! the fact the loony, liberal left is willing to punish Rosanne and others like her but give privilege to Reid and a host of other liberals shows HYPOCRISY!
Freedom of speech hasn’t never meant freedom from consequences. Say something stupid and you make it good business for your employer to fire you. That is their freedom.
In this case, if you do the right thing the first time it’s always easier. Now you double down on a bad decision. It’s like the NHL on discipline decisions.
The fact is none of these talking heads are that valuable, so why stand behind them? NBC may have been happy to get out from under his contract. The days of people like Mike Wallace, Carson and Cronkite, who were magnets for viewers, are gone.
Zebb, yes, freedom of speech is not freedom from consequences. However freedom of speech, association, conscience etc. on one’s own time should be shielded from business or employment.
Free speech and such ON THE JOB or on the employers media page, web space, social media, email etc. is different. This is why the idiot over paid NFL premadonna take the knee players were/are wrong. They were trying to enforce free speech on their employer’s dime and property. Them doing that same blah blah blah faux victimization shite along with cheering that BLM crap on their own time and property is 100% ok with me though. One can and should be allowed to look foolish, silly, racist, sexist (male/female and female/male) and any other prejudice and bigotry as well as just being retarded on their own time and on their own property physical or social media/web space.
I agree 99% of these news casters, readers and faux journalists are not really worth the corporate time going to the wall for them as IMO they are all generally and easily replaceable as none today are true icons of news media /journalism.
