‘Twin Peaks’ Drives Huge Subscriber Boost for CraveTV

Canadian subscription video on demand service, CraveTV, has announced that it hit a record number of new subscribers in a single day for 2017 due to the release of the hit show Twin Peaks.Twin Peaks (2o17), also known as Twin Peaks: The Return, is a continuation of the serial drama by the same name which originally ran from in 1990 to 1991.Twin Peaks started airing through the Bell-owned streaming subscription service on May 21st. On that particular day, CraveTV saw more than three times the average amount of subscribers it gets in a day.

Moreover, the hit series has become the most streamed title on CraveTV. Within a week of its launch the show has also become the most streamed launch of a Showtime series ever.

“Streaming Showtime in a first-window makes CraveTV an unbeatable value proposition in Canada,” said Tracey Pearce, president of distribution and pay at Bell Media, in a press release. “We’re thrilled to see Twin Peaks bringing record numbers of subscribers to CraveTV and we hope more and more TV lovers come aboard to see what all the buzz is about.”

Twin Peaks is directed by David Lynch — who also directed the 1990 version of the show — and picks up 25 years after the small town home coming queen Laura Palmer was murdered. Furthermore, the show stars Kyle MacLachlan, who continues his original role as FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper.

The 18-part series streams its 6th episode on Sunday June 11th at 9pm ET.
