Listenership Booming for AM Radio in Southern California

  • .It may not be the case across the rest of the country, but LOS ANGELES is still loving its AM radio. THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA BROADCASTERS ASSOCIATION has released new info based on NIELSEN data showing an uptick of 6.7% year-over-year cume in radio’s top revenue market.

    Average weekly cume persons for 20 AM stations in the LOS ANGELES metro jumped from 2.8 million in the WINTER of 2015 to a little over 3 million in WINTER 2016.

  1. More ads than music…for oldies, I tune into superoldies.com from SoCal. Great 50s thru 70s music. & not the same old same old. Anyone over 40 probably would rather hear talk & old rock than FM anyway.

  2. I can’t even imagine listening to music on the AM-band. It’s suitable for talk and even then it leaves a lot to be desired.
