Howard Stern began his legendary morning show career at WCCC radio in Hartford Conn.; ‘Topper’ began its 21-month run on CBS-TV, Doc Severinsen took over leadership of NBC-TV’s ‘Tonight Show’ band, and Joan Rivers started her ill-fated ‘Late Show’ on the Fox TV network.
