The Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame will formally induct nine new members Saturday. Well, as formally as you can at a seafood restaurant (Spenger’s in Berkeley). The luncheon event will also reconfirm the naming of KSAN-FM, in its progressive rock years, as the Hall of Fame’s Legendary Station of the year.

'Mork & Mindy', 'F- Troop', and the third season of 'The Flintstones' debuted on ABC-TV; Richard Boone's 'Have Gun Will Travel' and 'The Waltons' got started on CBS-TV; the radio soap opera 'Big Sister' debuted on CBS, while 'Ironside', 'The Golden Girls' and the short-lived 'My Mother the Car' debuted on NBC-TV.
'Entertainment Tonight' started its 30 year run in syndication, and Chubby Checkers' 'The Twist' was song #1.
Signing out and taking their final bows Sept. 14th were Patrick Swayze, Laugh In's Henry Gibson, Vancouver's Winston Reckart, Barbara Jo Allen of 'Vera Vague' fame, Latin bandleader Prez Prado, and Gertrude Berg of 'The Goldbergs.'

CBC Execs Tell CRTC it can no longer Afford to be Free
CBC executives told the federal regulator it is time to turn off free signals and allow conventional TV stations such as CBC and CTV to charge distributors a fee for carrying their channels in basic packages – even if that cost is passed on to customers.

CFL Radio PBP Guys Protest League’s Showcase Uniforms
All nine radio play-by-play announcers across the league have agreed to file a formal complaint about the jerseys, which feature logos on the front. It’s virtually impossible to call a game without being able to see numbers on the front.
