IT WAS SEPT. 7th … when pioneer Vancouver radio station CKFC first took to the air from First Congregational Church… When the final episode of (pictured) the original “Dick Van Dyke Show” featuring Mary Tyler Moore, as well as the last “Beverly Hillbillies” episode, aired on CBS-TV… When ESPN, the Entertainment and Sports Programming Network, made its debut on US cable TV as the world’s first fulltime sports TV station… .. and when CJRY-FM Edmonton signed on as Shine-FM, with 100,000 watts at 105.9 MHz. Van Susteren, who was an outspoken defender of former Fox News CEO Roger Ailes, exits the network on the same day the company settled a sexual harassment lawsuit against Gretchen Carlson. Back on July 8, before Ailes stepped down, Van Susteren told TheWrap: “If there were something weird going on … I would have heard it.”

According to Vanity Fair, Carlson will receive $20 million.

As I have explored more about the making of movies and visited movie sets, I have been amused by the similarities between a movie director and radio programmer. Both are tasked with mobilizing a team to tell a compelling story; both must set an overall direction, establish a context and provide ongoing feedback to those in the production. Both are the stewards of the plot and it is their job to keep the story on course.
