Rebranded Crave streaming service combines HBO, CraveTV and TMN

Canadians will no longer have to have a cable subscription to stream HBO. Bell Media is rebranding The Movie Network (TMN), HBO Canada and CraveTV into one streaming service, that will simply be known as Crave.

It’s the day that gave us Burt Lancaster, David Schwimmer, Paul Ford, Jay Black, k.d. lang, and early West Coast newscaster Sam Hayes. The early radio soap opera Myrt & Marge (pictured) debuted on CBS; the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) was created; CFGP brought 100 watts of local radio service to Grande Prairie Alta, and years later on this date, CFCW signed on with 250 watts in Camrose. CBC-TV experimented unsuccessfully with a 9 pm newscast, Ted Danson’s ‘Becker’ debuted on CBS-TV, and NBC-TV aired the 100th episode of ‘Third Rock from the Sun.’ Three veteran TV character actors left us on this date, Leonard Stone, Sid Melton and vocalist Paul Frees. Welcome to JJ-365 Salutes. Over 2018, we pay tribute daily to one of “The Good Ones”. Today we are shining the light on Ray Raymond Ramsay What does Jann Arden, Michael Buble and Ray have in common beyond music? When young they all worked on the commercial Salmon boats (Ray’s family had 3) and was a way of clearing his head. This is something he’s done since he was two years old. Skip ahead to Apr 1st of 1968 when he says he started as a nineteen-year old at distributor TPC/Quality as a warehouse ‘hump’, making him the April Fools boy. He thinks they hired him to stop him from phoning them. In 1970 he quickly rose to Promo/Sales Rep and eventually just Promotions for British Columbia.
