Two radio personalities who host a popular morning show in Metro Vancouver announced Tuesday was their last day.

Kevin Lim and Sonia Sidhu, who have done a morning show together on Kiss Radio for the last five years, announced live on air that the station was letting them go.

“Kiss is changing, and unfortunately we informed we won’t be part of this new chapter for the radio station,” Lim said.

The pair were informed of the staffing change beforehand, and their management approved their request to say their final goodbye on air.

  1. Well I guess it’s going to be a country station now! On my HD radio display this morning it said Country 104.9 while playing a loop of Rage Against the Machine.

    • Country was also my first guess, although the Rage Against the Machine loop doesn’t jive with that speculation. Jack already does Classic Hits, CFOX/The Peak account for Rock/Alternative/AAA, and The Breeze/Move have the AC/Hot AC market, with The soon-to-be-launched Wave 98.3 coming on the scene next month. It would make sense for Rogers to try and take a bite out of JR Country’s market share, especially with the recent departure of Clay and Karen from the morning show. Presuming Country is the new format, Rogers will have to make some adjustments in the Valley to either 92.5 or 107.1.

  2. Sadly in radio today it’s not IF you will be let go but WHEN. Trying to figure that out is the interesting part. Sometimes you see it coming other times it’s outta the blue. Virtually no one today will be retiring from broadcasting. So few options left, maybe leave town and work in Frozen Boot, Sask.? You gotta really love the business for that I guess.

Wish them the best and had to sort of chuckle at the story in the Sun. Speculating if it was a rogue employee locked in the studio playing that song over and over! Please.
