Saddened to learn of the passing of one of my broadcast mentors, Ted Randal. I first encountered Ted back in1965 working at CKY a subscribing station to his International Record service. That’s how CKY got all the big records first. Then in 1967 when Ted was a radio consultant to 1050 CHUM, J. Robert Wood somehow talked Ted into recommending me as a CHUM DJ for which I have always beeen very grateful. I also ran into Ted in the years he was working for Rogers at CHFI. In latter years as one of my Facebook friends we communicated very regularly. Ted lived his retirement to the fullest as a painter from his home in Victoria. He touched many of us in this business both in Canada and the US. There are many Canadian broadcasters who owe a lot to Ted and they will all be remembering him today. Ted was 95. RIP Sir.
