Steve Raible has been with the Seattle Seahawks organization from the very beginning.

From player to radio analyst to current play-by-play voice, Raible has seen the highs and lows of Seahawks football over the past 40+ years. Since becoming the full time radio play-by-play broadcaster in 2004, Raible has had plenty of great moments and successful teams and Seahawks wins to call.

Raible is retired from his news anchor role at KIRO television but he’ll remain the voice of the Seahawks for the foreseeable future. Appearing on the “Talkin’ Seahawks” podcast with Joe Fann, Raible talked about his favorite broadcast call ever, and you better believe it’s from the Super Bowl win over the Denver Broncos.

So which is it? When he lost his voice on Percy Harvin’s kick return? The Malcolm Smith pick-six? The Jermaine Kearse pinballing touchdown? It’s none of those plays…

“12s, they’re bringing the trophy home, your Seahawks — Super Bowl 48 champions!”

“That’s the most fun call I’ve ever had. It wasn’t a play, but it was the exclamation to that night,” Raible said (via NBC Sports NW). “That was the moment we could all celebrate and boy we sure did.”

There are not many local announcers who have had the opportunity to call a Super Bowl victory, let alone one who has been with the organization since the 1970s. I think “The Seahawks are Super Bowl champions” is something we all had time to take in, appreciate, and celebrate as a dream finally realized.

Listen to the full podcast here, and you can go down memory lane in the video below… which I guess you’ll have to watch on YouTube because the NFL operates that way.
