The program in which nearly 100 Canadian musicians, actors, athletes, activists and more shared performances or inspirational messages amid the coronavirus pandemic reached 11.5 million viewers overall on 44 networks, plus digital and radio platforms, with nearly one in three Canadians watching part of the broadcast.

Viewership peaked at more than 6.1 million during the world premiere of the charity single “Lean on Me,” a version of the Bill Withers song performed virtually by more than two dozen Canadian artists, Bell Media said in a news release.

Bell, CBC, Corus Entertainment and Rogers Media were among the 15 groups that broadcast or streamed the special, produced by Bell, CBC and Insight Productions.

It had raised more than $6 million for Food Banks Canada by Monday evening, with donations still being accepted at FoodBanksCanada.ca/StrongerTogether or by texting COVID to 30333.
