The Winnipeg Ice have hired longtime broadcaster Mitch Peacock to be the hockey club’s play-by-play announcer.

Peacock’s voice of the WHL team comes after more than 20 years calling games on and off, including the past four seasons with the AHL’s Manitoba Moose.

Peacock’s tour of duty includes stints in Roanoke, VA (ECHL), Canmore (AJHL), Penticton (BCHL) and Fort McMurray (AJHL). He also held hockey play-by-play roles on CBC’s coverage of the Sochi, Rio and Pyeongchang Olympic Games, as well as four years of NHL experience as a reporter on CBC’s “Hockey Night in Canada,” and three seasons hosting Calgary Flames’ radio.

All Winnipeg Ice games can be heard on, and on 680 CJOB on Saturdays and Sundays.
