CRTC Announces New FM Radio Station for the town of Assiniboia
Assiniboia, SK – Today, the CRTC (Canadian Radio-Television Telecommunications) approved Saskatchewan’s newest FM radio station. The CRTC approved 98.1 CHOG-FM for the community of Assiniboia and region.
This is the first local radio service in Assiniboia and 98.1 CHOG-FM will provide listeners 126 hours of local programming each week. This will including local news, weather, road reports, sports, community and cultural information, local lifestyle and event information, as well as agriculture interest programming.
98.1 CHOG-FM will offer listeners a country music format consisting of mostly hits from the past seven years as well as country hits from the 90s and 2K.
98.1 CHOG-FM will operate as a Class C1, full power, commercial FM radio station with a maximum ERP of 29,000 watts and an effect height of the antenna above average terrain of 258.3 meters.
98.1 CHOG-FM will be in heard in many small rural communities in southern Saskatchewan, including: Assiniboia, Rockglen, Willow Bunch, Coronach, Gravelbourg, Mossbank and many communities in between. 98.1 CHOG-FM will also be available in northern Montana, USA.
98.1 CHOG-FM will be operated by the Huber family of Briercrest, Saskatchewan. Steve Huber’s past radio experience includes 104.9 The Wolf in Regina and 100.3 The Bear in Edmonton. Steve Huber also designed and launched 92-9 The Bull Saskatoon, 2day FM Grande Prairie, as well many new radio stations in southern British Columbia.
