CHICAGO radio legend JOHN RECORDS LANDECKER told listeners on Monday’s show that he is leaving CUMULUS Classic Hits WLS-F/CHICAGO after FRIDAY evening’s show.

ROBERTFEDER.COM reports that LANDECKER, who has been hosting 8-11p (CT) since joining the latest incarnation of WLS in 2012 and had been without a contract throughout his latest stint on the station, said he made the decision to leave on his own, adding that he isn’t using the term “retire” and joking, “My biological grandfather clock is ticking … It’s time to go and see if any of those things that I’ve claimed to want to try for years are really things I want to try.”

He told FEDER that he does not have another job lined up, the first time he has exited a gig voluntarily without having something else in the works. He added that he plans to visit his daughters (including actress AMY) and granddaughter in LOS ANGELES and is considering writing a screenplay and podcasting.
