NBC has ended its business relationship with Donald Trump, citing “derogatory” statements made by the former “Apprentice” star.

The Monday statement, obtained by TheWrap, specifies that the annual Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants — a joint venture between NBC and Trump — will no longer run on the broadcaster’s airwaves. Additionally, Trump will not be participating in the network’s reality competition, “The Apprentice.”

However, “Celebrity Apprentice” is licensed from Mark Burnett‘s United Artists Media Group, a relationship that will continue, per NBC.

“At NBC, respect and dignity for all people are cornerstones of our values,” the network’s statement began. “Due to the recent derogatory statements by Donald Trump regarding immigrants, NBCUniversal is ending its business relationship with Mr. Trump.”

Here is the full NBC statement:

At NBC, respect and dignity for all people are cornerstones of our values. Due to the recent derogatory statements by Donald Trump regarding immigrants, NBCUniversal is ending its business relationship with Mr. Trump.

To that end, the annual Miss USA and Miss Universe Pageants, which are part of a joint venture between NBC and Trump, will no longer air on NBC. In addition, as Mr. Trump has already indicated, he will not be participating in “The Apprentice” on NBC.

‘Celebrity Apprentice’ is licensed from Mark Burnett‘s United Artists Media Group and that relationship will continue.”

  1. What’s the problem with Trump speaking out against illegal immigration (which has seen a massive increase since the Great Pretender began squatting in the White House back in 2009)?

  2. The Donald has every right to opine on immigration. But if he travels in the gutter to do it (alleging illegals are mostly criminals and rapists) then he can’t evince surprise when production partners such as NBC, Univision and Macys send him packing.

But the past few years have seen Trump rarely detour from the low road. His foray into Birtherland, full of innuendo and NO evidence, made me lose any goodwill I had for him as an enduring American entrepreneur.

It was a true joy to watch Trump squirm while President Obama lampooned him at the Washington Correspondents’ Dinner (unbeknownst to all of us was that Obama was able to coolly deliver his comic schtick while taking a break from overseeing the Seal Team Six take-down of bin Laden).

Perhaps Trump’s ultimate contribution will be to so disrupt the Republican Party, and so disgust rational voters, that yet again the GOP will lose an otherwise winnable presidential election.
