CJME has been honoured with the award for Best Radio Newscast in Canada by the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA).

A story about the Regina Beach natural gas explosion led off that winning newscast broadcast on Dec. 3. The 5 p.m. newscast featured breaking coverage of the incident as well as feature reports on the other big stories of the day.

Pam Leyland, president of Rawlco Radio, calls the award a recognition of the outstanding work done by the entire team that day. Noting it’s the 11th regional or national award for best newscast for CJME, Leyland feels it speaks to the station’s commitment to deliver consistently high quality and timely information to its listeners and online followers.

“But,” says Leyland, “as always, the most important newscast for the CJME team, is the next one.”

The distinction was voted on by RTDNA judges across Canada. The award was presented at the RTDNA conference in Toronto on the weekend.
