TV Ratings: Fox News and CNN Surge in May, MSNBC Falters More

Nearing the halfway mark, it’s proving to be an especially interesting year in cable news ratings. CNN’s mostly been on the rise, with Fox News Channel still firmly at No. 1, while MSNBC continues to have troubles in daytime and primetime as its 2015 mandate to cover more breaking news inches forward.

May proved to be a huge month for CNN and FNC. The former, focusing heavily on unrest in Baltimore, and the latter, with a combination of Baltimore and developments in the 2016 presidential campaign, both surged double digits in primetime — vastly improving their respective ratings from the same time period last year.
