Wow! What an incredible story. In fact it’s downright scary to think these little tin gods on council, and the mayor have this kind of arbitrary mentality – is this what politics has come down to? I’d say it’s about time people who really care for their city step up to the plate, put their names forward to run for council this fall. The lone brave councilor should put his name forward for the mayors chair. He has the kind of character most of us can relate to.

Totally disagree with you Fill In Guy. In the eyes of Nanaimo city council it had everything to do with religion, in this case, specifically Christians.
Why shouldn’t this be on a radio board? It’s about ‘Freedom of Speech’. Besides that, it was ONLY Sun News carrying this story. It amazed me why No Other Media Source did???Was your radio station carrying this story before Ezra Levant got wind of this injustice?

As a proud Christian and Nanaimoite I’d say you need a little more info. Leadercast is not billed as a Christian event at all. I went to their website. Yes some “Christians” were involved, but there is no mention of this being a Christian conference anywhere. it’s targeted as a leadership event.

No Jesus… or any apostle mentioned there… or anywhere, and I checked the beliefs area too.
What IS worth noting is that the sponsor (who has stores in Canada) is on record (Then and STILL) as being against marriage rights for Homosexuals. He has not been secretive about this and a cursory glance at him and his organization shows this was not ..as Levant says”Something a guy associated with the sponspor said at one time…” Let us point out as well that features speaker Dr Cloud has made a small fortune off the right by claiming homosexuality is a disease that can be cured.. yeah.. I have a problem with this. If there is a policy that states these views are “hate” and should not be permitted in our public facilities i agree… they should be prohibited. It’s a blanket policy and should be respected.
Levant twists the truth of what happened, downplayed the reality of the situation, and generally made the issue about something it wasn’t. The real issue is a legal one, not a moral one. Nanaimo in my time here has allowed or endorsed numerous ecumenical and Christian events, as well as supporting Gay pride events. in fact some have been combined. numerous Christian churches have supported these gay pride events. Really what we are shown here is a so called journalist who not only shows ignorance and readyness to be racist himself “One of the members …was BLACK!!!!!” but has stamped Christians as Homophobic and intollerant.
As I stated before. i think City council blew it here, but to call them anti Christian is intiollerant and ignorant. It wasn’t about Christ.. unless Christ was an ignorant anti-gay bigot.. and the christ I believe in certainly isn’t.
