As a jazz pianist and vocalist he was popular world-wide. Ramblin’ Rose became one of the many hits for him in 1962. He was the first black man to host a television series. He died at age 45 in February 1965.

The first basketball game to be televised was seen on only a handful of New York TV sets almost a decade before the so-called TV era began.
Some 125 million people were tuned in for the much anticipated finale of the TV series ‘M*A*S*H’ on CBS.
And the iconic ABC radio broadcaster Paul Harvey (pictured) signed off for the final time, dying at age 90.

RIP Ottawa Radio Veteran Gary Michaels, 77
He got his start in radio at CJET Smith Falls before breaking into the Ottawa market, first at CFGO 1440 and later CIWW-AM and CJLL-FM.
Steve Raible, 65, Announces his Retirement from KIRO 7 Anchoring
Toward the end of spring he will no longer anchor nightly newscasts on KIRO 7.
But he will continue as the radio voice of the Seahawks.

And ABC aired Part One of their “The Beach Boys: An American Family” TV movie.
