I have pointed out several times how the audience numbers at my old alma mater, BCTV, have diminished since it became part of Global.... down as much as 200,000 viewers from its glory days. Now, more signs CTV is coming on .... setting up a furious fight with Global this Fall ....

Party of Five was seen for the first time on Fox. The 10th season of Murder She Wrote began on CBS-TV, and Vancouver radio station AM 1040 signed on with an adult contemporary music format. Future TV star Lee Meriwether won the crown … When the last of Gillette’s Friday Night Fights was seen on free, home TV. Veteran Don Dunphy handled the blow-by-blow as he had on radio & TV for 23 years… When the Canadian newsmagazine “W-5” launched on CTV,,, ..and when the Carol Burnett Show premiered on CBS, with the first of 278 episodes over the next 10-and-a-half years. When comedian/singer Eddie Cantor moved from radio to television, as he hosted the Colgate Comedy Hour on NBC TV… ..and when Seattle’s KING TV introduced the first local TV newscast west of Minneapolis and north of Los Angeles, anchored by Charles Herring (pictured). Vancouver: CBC Radio One grabs the #1 spot for A12+ with an 11.7% share of hours tuned (down from 13.6% last time out). Taking the top spot for F25-54 was QM-FM, posting a 13.0% share (down from 16.5% last time out). Edmonton: 102.3 NOW Radio rules the roost for A12+ posting a 13.2% share of hours tuned (up from 11.8%). NOW! Calgary: NewsTalk 770 leads the way for A12+ with a 9.0% (up from 8.2%).
