It’s a golden anniversary for CKNW AM 980 Vancouver host Stirling Faux, who is marking 50 years in the radio business this weekend. Originally signing on November 15, 1970 as a host for CKSO in Sudbury, ON, his career took him to Toronto, Quebec City, Vancouver, Calgary, and back to Vancouver again, where he’s been ever since. Faux is likely the only person to spend significant time on-air at all four Corus Radio Vancouver stations.  CKSO Bio

  1. Congratulations Stirling, Ive always enjoyed listening to you. )n air at NW you come as close to fair and balanced as anyone in the Gifford tank. I especially like the period where you and Berner did the live late night call in.

  2. Stirling Faux is a real radio talent, whether its playing music or interviewing people. Fifty years is one amazing feat for any one, congrats Stirling.

  3. The inside joke between Stirling and I is that we never got to work “radio” together, but we did teach radio together. I was a guest at his BCIT night school course ( BCIT Class of 79 is my alma matter) and we both worked the old Columbia School of Broadcasting. THAT was a story into itself. CONGRATS MY FRIEND !!!!

  4. Congratulations Stirling! A fifty year career (and counting) is a testament to your talent and versatility. Always a pleasure to see you when we cross paths.

  5. Love it when Sterling and Mike Campbell have their talk each Saturday. Congrats Sterling, hope Gifford keeps you around for many years to come!

  6. I’ve listened to cknw off and on for nearly two decades since that’s the main local station here. If my memory is correct, I’ve always found Stirling to be pretty neutral on the topics. Today I was driving and he had a co-host Mo Amir on. The moment this Mo said anti-vaxx and anti-mask I knew this was trouble; I hope he’s not co-hosting permanently. I guess Stirling is “too” neutral and CKNW has to “make sure” Stirling follows the biased narrative we’ve been hearing for the last 10 months. Is this guy being placed to “police” Stirling? Stirling does just fine on his own. Maybe it was Stirling’s choice, who knows. It won’t do his show any good if that’s the case.
