Howie Meeker, who passed away Sunday in Nanaimo at age 97, backed up Vancouver Canucks play-by-play announcers on BCTV (now Global BC) for several seasons. From 1977-85 he was the analyst for Bernie Pascal and for Jim Robson in the 1985-86 season. Meeker was appointed to the Order of Canada and was invested in a ceremony in 2011. Global BC News

  1. Did not see a lot of Mr. Meeker but I always thought he was a wonderful human being and I always thought he added a lot to the Hockey Broadcasts even if one saw things a little differently .

    Only my opinion but I thought that Meeker bein “Old School” helped a lot .

    RIP Mr. Meeker, you always made Hockey Fans happy with you enthusiasm and insightful contribution !
