The days of sports radio at 1410 on Vancouver’s AM dial are numbered. TSN / Bell Media.

TSN 1410, the second station in Bell Media’s Vancouver sports stable, is getting a new look.

Beginning April 30, it will become BNN Bloomberg Radio, simulcasting BNN Bloomberg TV and also featuring “in-depth, live, long-form, specialty programming from Bloomberg’s radio service.”

The station will continue to use call letters CFTE and like TSN 1040 will continue to be available on an HD radio secondary feed at 103.5 FM as well as their current AM frequency.

TSN 1410 has been airing network programming featuring big American sports radio names like Jim Rome, Dan Patrick, Rich Eisen, JT the Brick and Golic and Wingo, as well as live sports, like the NBA and NFL and occasionally local games featuring the Giants, Lions and Whitecaps. Some of those live games will now feature on TSN 1040, Bell Media says.

Several of the big-name shows that were on 1410 will make the switch to 1040, added Bell spokesman Matthew Garrow: Golic and Wingo will air from 3 to 5:30 a.m.; Jim Rome will air in a time slot beginning at midnight, while Dan Patrick will air weeknights beginning at 7 p.m.

Bellingham sports radio station KPUG (1170 AM, 97.9 FM) can be heard in parts of the Lower Mainland and airs the Jim Rome show from 9 a.m. to noon and the Dan Patrick show from 6 to 9 a.m.

The iHeart Radio Canada app has a Fox Sports Radio feed and the Patrick show is also available there. Both Rich Eisen and JT the Brick will only be available there or through Fox Sports Radio’s website.

  1. Really disappointing. One of the unfortunate things about only airing local sports shows, is that they’ll talk about Canucks during the off-season when there’s nothing to report, and skip NFL or NBA. Sorry to see them drop American shows. And Bloomberg… yeah that’s a big draw.
