The Hang
We all shared a time and place together that was special. It might not go down as the Golden Age of popular music, but it was definitely A Golden Age. It was the music that drew us in and allowed us to be part of its orbit. Do you ever remember saying, “And we get paid for doing this? Who did we have to kill?”
When the gifted people who made and continue to make great music speak of the bond that exists in the seminal basement, garage, rehearsal space, the studio and in performance that aids in the creation of the sounds we cherish so much, chops are a given. But first you have to show that you can hang.
Working and playing in and around Vancouver’s symbiotic radio and record business of the 1970’s and ‘80’s it was all about the relationships, the loves, laughs and lasting friendships formed and forged while we hung around he legendary clubs like the Commodore, the Savoy, Outlaws, Gary Taylor’s, Dick’s on Dick’s, the radio stations and the baseball diamonds.
Fess up. You know it’s the Hang that we all miss the most. So, dust off your schmoozin’ shoes and let’s make some more memories while we still can. On that note, we’d appreciate if, prior to the event, you can send any scanned/soft copy photos of those great times so we can compile a slide show. Alas, unlike the Glory Days, this is a No Host Bar. Sucks, but truth be told we can’t put it away like we used to. Snacks, appies and priceless photo ops provided. Steamworks is centrally located off Cordova next to the Seabus Terminal and remember, the no posers / no goof rule is in effect. If you need to speak with someone call Lionel at (604) 737-7515.
