George Gordon, who was the morning co-host and Executive Editor of News 1130 Vancouver for a decade ending in 2009, who is now the afternoon drive co-host of 680News Toronto, has announced he will retire from the broadcast business effective Nov. 30. He has been in radio for 45 years. Besides CKWX Vancouver his background includes stints at CFRA Ottawa, CHUM Toronto, CKSL London and CKGL Kitchener…

And Tom Plasteras, who served as Program Director at CKNW for almost 20 years ending in 2013, and also oversaw CFMI-FM for a large chunk of that, and who lately has been a Frozen Yogurt shop owner in Kitsilano,  has joined the Vancouver Whitecaps as director, broadcast and communications. Effective immediately, Plasteras is overseeing the broadcast, media relations, communications, and community relations for Whitecaps FC.

This announcement comes just a few days after his successor as head of programming at the Black Tower, Ian Koenigsfest, was given his walking papers after two years as brand manager.

Tom is well suited for his new gig. Best of luck, Tom.
