WINNIPEG — Broadcasting legend Charles Adler turned off his microphone for the final time in the city on Friday.
The 680 CJOB veteran, affectionately known as “The Boss of Talk,” ended his program after 17 years at the station with guests Mark Chipman, Theo Fleury, and Warren Kinsella, among others.
“When Peter Warren chose to retire from CJOB and the station asked me to step in, I felt like the luckiest broadcaster in Canada,” Adler said in an earlier statement released by Corus Entertainment.
“Saying goodbye is never easy, but Winnipeggers will always have a special place in my heart.”
Adler’s broadcast career has taken him from stints in Montreal, London, Hamilton and Toronto, as well as a nationally syndicated radio show out of Tampa, Florida. He was also the primetime host on the short-lived Sun News Network.
Fellow CJOB host Geoff Currier will fill the talk slot for Adler, who has decided to move to British Columbia with his family.
“To follow in the footsteps of Charles Adler and Peter Warren is an incredible honor,” said Currier. “We’ll do our best to ask questions and get answers for Winnipeggers.”

This has got to be the worst kept secret in radio today that Charles is heading towards CKNW. Correct?
