The Pogues – Fairytale of New York
Let’s call this “Hangover Sunday”. A week ago today it was “Ajax Liquor Store”, today its Christmas Eve in the drunk tank. This one was suggested to me the other night by my friend Briar.
According to Wikipedia, this was the most popular Christmas song of the 21st century. Then why have I not heard it before? OK, I do recall hearing
it (or some variation) as a youngster. It was the first time I recollect hearing the word “faggot”, an insult which I used on my cousin several weeks later having know idea of its actual meaning.
Kids do say the darndest things, don’t they?!
