VOICE OVER — The house paid tribute to popular veteran TV producer John Richardson. He is retiring soon after 14 years as Shaw TV’s bureau chief, responsible for Voice of B.C. and other cable coverage. He was also responsible for maintaining the guest book signed by guests on the show, which is a Who’s Who of political figures stretching back years.

STRAIGHT SHOOTER — Veteran cameraman Ron Thompson covered the legislature for decades for various TV stations and his death last week at age 72 was noted by NDP Leader John Horgan. Thompson helped pioneer many evolutions in broadcast coverage of B.C. politics. Horgan recalled him as one of the “nicer guys you’re ever going to find.”
