David Bowie has today’s almost forgotten track

It’s uncommon to feature an artist as iconic as Bowie in a series of almost forgotten tracks, but today I’m thinking of his covers album, Pinups…in between projects David decided to record an album reflecting his influences, and it included many 60s songs that had helped in his personal development, including this track originally recorded by beat group The Mojos…the album is a total treat, including songs by The Who, The Yardbirds, The Pretty Things (twice), and many many more…always worth a fun half hour plus of listening time…

Greg Simpson firmly believes his career in the music industry officially began on March 14, 1965 when a band gave him ten dollars as commission for helping them find a gig. He hasn’t looked back since then and looks forward to celebrating his fiftieth in 2015 with an enormous party paid for by the hundreds of dollars he’s made since then. His career has covered all aspects from radio for many years, and including working for record labels, artists and, since 1992, Canadian Music Week where he programs the radio stream and manages all conference streams and events in real time annually. He also attends half a dozen conferences a year doing research for CMW and is generally accepted as a knowledgeable cat with a few stories to tell. At the root of it all, though, is his undying love for music and musicians.

Incredible Major Talent!

Played so much of his various Albums over the years I just about wore them out!

If you get a chance You Tube Bowie on Dick Cavett doing Young Americans.

He had a little assistance with Luther Van Dross and David Sanborn on that performance.

Bowie himself was a bit of a mess on the evening but it was still an incredible performance just the same.

I truly believe he had more of an impact on Western Culture than what people recognize.

George in Richmond

What I liked about Bowie is how he was able to adapt over the years. The Traditionalist in me appreciated how he started to wear a suit and yet, the suit quite fitted the songs he was singing. “Let’s Dance” and “China Girl” come to mind. One song I never tire of is “Under Pressure” with Freddy Mercury and Queen. Magnificent in my eyes (and ears).

Good call on this one Greg
