Which Means 991 Fresh Radio Will Be Replaced Classic Hits Boom 991

They’ve already tried that format, and found there’s no space in between BOB and Drive.

Could Be Classic Rock On 991 Winnipeg

Classic Rock could make some sense. Good combo with Power. Not a lot of obvious options out there, and Corus hangs their hat on Classic Hits / New Rock / Country / Fresh. All but Country have been tried, and I think the lesson of two Country FMs has been learned elsewhere. CJOB-FM is possible, but requires CRTC approval.

I think we are finally seeing opportunities open in the stagnant radio industry. Though I do believe whoever the PD is must have some talent in mind already to make a total overhaul like this.

This isn’t shocking news. Actually its long overdue. That show was a tough listen on the best days. A re-branding is imminent. Fresh as a brand in that market has been an unidentifiable albatross since it launched. A BOB/Drive competitor is just further saturation. Simulcasting CJOB would make the most sense.

Simulcasting a station that already exists seems like a waste of space. I’m all for Boom. I really enjoyed Fresh when it first started before it became a Kiss FM wannabe.

Also for the record, we already have 2 country stations not even including NCI.
