I'm wondering why they just wouldn't do the same thing they did in Edmonton!!!??? They tripled their audience once they abandoned the country format. Seems like a no brainer to me - there's no one taking on Clear at the moment.
So I see the "apology" is gone from the Hank website now...and nothing seems to have changed.......??? Did anything actually come of this gimmick? What was the payoff, so to speak?
I'm %100 sure this isn't the first time a radio stunt hasn't worked out. I think we have all been through the pain of a bit falling flat on it's ass. Cut these guys some slack.
apparently that chrisd blog site was in on it... he had a flash banner with HANK on it, and he also had another flash banner that looked like the page was peeling away, and when you clicked on it, it took you to the original HANK entry on his blog.
A very sad attempt at stirring up attention for a radio station that nobody knows or cares about in Winnipeg.
Actually, it was the FIRST and the LAST song played on Earl...
Then you must be one of only 7 people that actually heard it played live... both times.
You'd think that after the Earl debacle, Newcap would have learned a thing or two, and applied it to Winnipeg. Guess not. My prediction is.... Capitol FM launches on Boxing Day.
Well, NewCap applied to the CRTC for a second license in Winnipeg because they wanted a sister-station playing "a TRUE alternative rock" format. I'm sort of curious if they will just flip to that, since they didn't get the second license...
Not likely to jump into the "Rock Block" of stations like Power, Citi and now Curve - they can't take on 1 station (QX) let alone 3. I'm with DarkKnight - Capitol's got to be in the future. No one's really taking a shot at Clear at the moment and they've had some good books.
