Anyone hear what happened to the morning show? The station's running splitters saying that they've been suspended due to "outrageous comments that did not represent the company and what was said had no place on the airwaves....etc"

Here's a station that just can't seem to find a foothold in the market.

I thought it might be at first too, but it does sound pretty serious. This should get interesting!

Quote from the Hank FM website....

"This is Randy Skulsky, general manager of CHNK 100.7 HANK FM. On behalf of the staff and management of Newcap Radio Winnipeg, I would like to apologize for the remarks made by our on-air staff. The outrageous comments in no way represent the opinions of Newcap Radio Manitoba or its parent company, the Newfoundland Capital Corporation. What was said had no place on the airwaves, and I plan to address the concerns so many of you expressed to me. We are reviewing the incident, and I promise we will take swift action to ensure that it won’t happen again. Those responsible will be held accountable, and our on-air talent is presently suspended until further notice. Please accept my apologies once again. We will do everything we can to regain your trust. Thank you."

If it's not a stunt....... I'd like to know what was said! Sheesh!

Eep!  The word "outrageous" is what sticks out to me as "STUNT", but other than that, it does sound pretty serious.  I know they were trying really hard to "push the envelope" but I'd be shocked if a vet like Abbey White would let it get that far.  Hmmmm...

Looks like a stunt. Besides, if you actually listen to the morning "show", there is nothing outrageous about them.

Yeah, the Morning Show is pretty basic with not a lot of content involved.  The whole thing REEEEEEEEEKS of a stunt, and I can't believe the Winnipeg Free Press actually decided to write a friggin' story about how "...it might be a publicity stunt..."

Oyyyyy...

If the newspaper got involved, I guess it's "mission acomplished".

Hang on a second; so the last place Station in the Market is stunting and trying to be outrageous and we're talking about it why?  Maybe if they had a listener base in the first place it would have more of an affect.

Hey, other stations have actually done newsworthy things in this market and they don't get newspaper coverage, or the papers will take credit themselves. If they can get a story in print with the call letters, I say "good on 'em!"
When you're at the bottom, there's no such thing as a bad idea to get people talking.

Winnipeg blogger ChrisD  has confirmed with a Hank FM insider that this is purely a publicity stunt. It’s simply a hoax to boost the station’s ratings — where they currently sit in last place.

Wish stations I worked for did lameass stuff like that and suspended me.  I haven't had a fall vacation since leaving the non-rated markets 17 years ago.

How is Newcap supposed to fine creative?  What is the usual fine levied towards creative anyways?

Oooooh angry, bitter internet guy gets carried away and forgets how to spell.  Gotcha.
