Liz McKinney needs somebody to interact with to sound entertaining...long gone are The FOX solo shows. Her and John Michaels were the funniest duo in Kelowna ever...John owned the dialect in the show and out-witted her constantly...but they knit perfectly. (yes John knits!)  Not sure who this Moose dude is, but she can and will bury him if he doesn't get some balls early.

Maybe it would be best if they tried to out-shout each other. Apparently I'm the only one that didn't think it was a reasonable expectation that co-hosts compete against each other for attention.

I was naive enough to think they were on the same team.

Remember back in the day when the challenge was to introduce new music to your audience? Nowadays, we just trod out the tried and true and call the packaging and the label imaginative. Once in a while, we do introduce a new song, but only after repeated video, tv or commercial exposure.

These are exciting days for radio indeed.

I love people who say things like this. It's the same as people who blame the labels for signing bands like Nickleback and claim there is some huge conspiracy that makes people buy bad music.

God what tripe!

If stations like this get huge ratings (Joe/Bob/Jack/EZ Rock) then obviously it's because people like it.

But let me guess, they only like it because corporate radio uses magical brain wave controllers to make people like it. Right?

Ug.

Actually..... you have totally misunderstood my point, but thanks for trying to read my mind.. A mentalist, you are not.

For the benefit of Mr. Kreskin here, I'll try to clarify.

Whether or not people like Nickelback is irrelevant here. I am simply stating that the dinosaurs among us (and there are plenty) are quick to note how in the "good ole days" when radio was great, the jocks picked their music, corporate formats were non-existent, and the true artistic creativity and musical foresight of the jock and music director combined to define a station to its listeners. To be the one that played the new songs first, presented to an anticipating audience using wit and personality was the way we defined our place in the market (and the way we won ratings). Rotation and the right presentation combined to define not only radio, but significant moments in listeners' lives. This ideal made radio great and is now sadly missing.

Most of the new stations mentioned in these threads focus a majority (if not entirely) upon playing music that we know all the words to. There is no mystery, there is little new music being played, we are just re-living the past for the benefit of the demographic segment with the most money. The appeal to the listener is understandable, the appeal to the sales team is equally understandable... but as programmers, entertainers and faceless voices in the dark, the execution is little more than phoning it in. The state of radio has sunk to the point that we are applauding our own stagnation. In fact, many of us believe that there is no longer new music that is worthwhile to our listeners, so we will continue to pacify them with the same stuff we think they are looking for.. and we praise each other for it.

New music stations do still exist, and if done right, they thrive.. in my opinion.. I will say that again, a little louder... IN MY OPINION.. pandering to the baby boomers (which is exactly what classic hits formats are doing) will leave us with nothing to give us relevance for the future. This will be our swan-song and we are playing the violin as Rome burns.

Just checked the website (no longer a splash page).  Mornings states Micheals and McKinney together again or something like that.  Stream is now active as well.

I wanna take this time to thank everyone who listened to McKinney and Moose on 103.9 FM the Juice and will continue to listen to "Micheals and McKinney" along with the other great on air staff that is on the Juice...These are a very talented bunch of people...dedicated, hard working professionals. The sales, creative, and admit staff are some of the best people i have ever worked with and happy to call a friend. I also want to thank Jason Mann who is not only a great radio man, but a caring and honest man who gave me this opportunity to fulfil a goal to make it to the beautiful Ok. The many people at Vista radio are an incredible bunch and I hope to work with you again...Sometimes things don't work out the way one plans but I did the best I could, and hope to be back on the air real soon...Thank you again and God Bless!

Kelowna's Juice being the  wine, is not the first moniker to hit the air.  They have one in the UK.

Why was the "Moose" fired after 5 weeks? The grass is not always greener on the otherside.
