I've heard that Q99 in Grande Prairie might be switching formats in October....anyone else heard this? I think it would be an awesome move for them.... |

picking a format and running with it will be good for them. a few stations up there with an identity crisis, or "flexible" format. |

A format change may benefit Q 99 but they need to find a Great PD with an original thought or one that knew what they were doing. Hell, even an average PD would help them.
My guess, easy listening is about to hit Grande Prairie. |

Very true....I think they'd do very well as a solid Top 40 station. We shall see! |

I was working in BC when Q99s PD was practically pushed out the Zone door, only to land in Grande Prairie. I don't know the guy personally, but I have been told to never work for or with the guy if I want to enjoy my job. From what I've heard, his time at the Zone put a bad taste in everyone's mouth. As well a complete turn-over of staff in less than a year at Q99 has to say something about management, I would imagine. Q99s website has a lot of flames and fire...rock or modern rock maybe? |

1. You have to HAVE a format to flip it
2. Some people will be miserable wherever they are. Then they move to regina and post in useless untrue threads on gossip boards. |

I have never worked with Dave, but I know him well enough to say that the bs people are saying about him is just that bs. He is a well respected guy in the community and I believe he moved back to GP from the island for two reasons. 1. A great opportunity to come back to a town where he had lots of fun and work for an independant owner that has similiar ideas. 2. His psychic predicted the big earthquake that will sink Vancouver Island will occur on September 12, 2008 and he didn't want to be in town for that.
As for the moved to Regina comment....lol |

Broadcastvictoria knows what they are talking about.
I've never worked for Dave or lived in Grande Prairie but it's known he moved to Victoria to eventually be the Zone PD only to get put on a bad shift. He was not respected as a potential PD therefore did not get the job. Surely he came back to Grande Prairie to take the PD job because it is better than doing evenings in a very expensive city. I've listened to his station and it shows his inexperience and lack of originality.
He could be the nicest most respected guy in the world but that doesn't mean he is good at running a station. Maybe one day he will be, only time will tell. |
