Can someone explain to me why I'm hearing the audio of TSN's SportsCentre on Team 1040 right now?

I thought it was fairly strange to hear 1040 pick up TSN's football broadcasts because it is challenging to figure out what's really going on in a football game with a TV call and no visuals.  But somehow it makes sense to just take the audio of SportsCentre and put it on the radio?!

I know both are owned by CTV, but you mean to tell me there wasn't ANYTHING else 1040 could have come up with to fill the half hour between today's CFL games?

Sounds bad, but it sounds like someone listened to the Sportscentre broadcast.

And, that's all these companies care about nowadays.

As long as they can sell the ads, who cares what goes in between.  That's the attitude and until people stop buying ads, it will only get worse.

I can just hear some suit now, "Ah, it's just 1/2 hour, throw Sportscentre on.  It doesn't matter."

I'm convinced most radio stations would sell dead air if they were allowed.

TV, same thing.  Put up some bars and tone in between the ads and that's good enough for some.

The onus is really on the advertisers to say they don't want a part of this kind of cheap, sub-standard programming.

But, they appear to be getting fooled by some very good sales teams across the country.

Yes, it seems as though radio has finally reached the CCD - the cheapest common denominator. Normally, good ideas aren't cheap and the reverse is true. This was a cheap idea. Unfortunately, in radio today, that makes it a good idea.

Not that I think that was a good idea, but if you're airing the 2 games, what would you fill the half-hour with?
