Some dude on the Seattle message board has to come Vancouver for business every so often and he talked about what he liked while in the Terminal City one weekend.

***

*Sunday morning's The End Unplugged with Pam Wolff is an awesome show. I love it. But it will never replace Resurrection Flashback Sunday. I was sitting in a Vancouver, BC coffee shop on a Sunday morning a few months ago, and they had some station (unknown which one) doing a similar show. And you know what, it just felt right. A lazy Sunday morning, 80s music on the radio.

*Finally, on a non Seattle note, my job takes me up to Vancouver, BC regularly on weekend mornings. Here's hoping that Andy Walsh, the weekend morning news anchor on News 1130 never retires. What a great voice.

Andy could go on air and read instructions from the 50's on how to make Creamy Spam Asparagus Casserole and listeners would say "Now that sounds delicious!"

The one thing I liked on Vancouver radio was the Essential selection with Pete Tong on the Beat. Used to listen to it on the way to work but now I have to listen online from the BBC site.

I do like how if for some strange reason I need a nickelback fix I just have to flip long enough and sure enough one of about 5 stations will have it on before to long

I'm surprised the show was dropped. I was under the impression it was the highest rated weekend show on the station next to AT40 with Ryan Seacrest.

Essential Selection was/is a Dance/Electronic music show by UK DJ Pete Tong and yeah unfortunately it's gone as is AT40 with Seacrest. What's up with that TheBeat?

AT40 ain't that special.  So I wouldn't miss that too much.  But looking at Essential Selection, now that show I could see gaining a loyal following.  However. it isn't a very mainstream show.  That is the sort of show I'd fire up late at night after the Mix shows with Flipout.  Keep the party going after hours on the Beat.

I used to listen to Pete Tong on the beat when I lived in Vancouver... It was a pretty cool show to listen to. Didnt know they canned the show... Maybe Crave will pick up the show?
