Hopefully the show will be a success. However, I think Erick will need to lighten up and relax a bit. He comes across as being far too serious and when he's anchored the evening news (when Hudson Mack is away), his attempts at small talk on the set are not very effective.
The previous offering was good and I was a loyal watcher, but it had everything to do with the very talented Bruce Williams and they should move the show back to Nanaimo if that what it takes to get Bruce back onboard.

In his defence, I think he is capable of doing that. He interviewed me once and I was shocked to hear and see him cuss (after successfully getting rid of some guy that was heckling him and wasting his and the cameraman's time).
whatever they decided to do, I wish them all the best of luck to all the new hires! just make sure to save up a couple of bucks, incase the bean counters back east decide to axe the new product.
I watched again this morning with my wife. My wife said no smiling, things seem to be going nowhere. My point still stands: Eric out, bring in Bruce Williams. Anyone else watch the morning show?
I didn't think the show's vibe would be so "newsy" looking. Erick is mis-cast there. The segues between the set and the on-location stuff is really clunky for me.
Producers of morning TV just don't get it in my opinion. Either be a "news" show, or be a lifestyle show with a dedicated news component...but stop trying to do both. How are we supposed to believe, or feel credibility towards the hosts when they're holding puppies.
Yeah, don't jump all over them so soon, give them some time. All three hosts are experienced and talented (on a side note, so happy they brought Maggie Cox out here, she's a gem!), and I'm sure Erick will learn to lighten up a bit as things progress. Just think, when the station launched pretty much everything was clumsy and clunky, timings were off, the newscasters were hesitant, etc... and then four years later, they steal away Hudson Mack and start winning awards. Time is the greatest fix!
What makes you think Bruce would want his old gig? "Been there, done that."
Besides, he's more valuable to the station as a roving goodwill ambassador, glad-handing the business world. Gordie Tupper could use the work .. He's underused at CHEK.
