I heard Jenny Adams on the radio this morning with Boyd. Gads, kill me now. That's how they respond to losing Audie??? A d-list celebrity with talent to match. I expected better from Joe. I'm just hoping it's a temporary thing.
Thank you! She isn't bad looking that's for sure, too bad you can't see faces or cleavage on the radio. I've never heard of her before in my life though, is she well known around Edmonton? Or am I just out to lunch?
Jenny's claim to fame was that she was a contestant on The Bachelor
I think that puts her in the C-list among local celebrities, just in front of the lady who was on the price is right and never made it out of contestants row, and just behind the Canadian cannonball champion.
Take your pick. There's a few really good MD/PD's out there that are doing lots of good in their positions that deserve a shot at the big time.
I'm not saying there's a particular person, I'm just imagining limitless potential with the cash & brand power running Edge would bring. Man, that'd be a fun gig.

Al Ford should take it so I can have his gig. Seriously. I don't want to move to Toronto.
See Corus in the title, and you know it's an NBeacon rant about something. Anyone else ever wonder why he's an EX radio man?
Sonic had a bad book, but that could be just an anomaly. Sonic is one of the best stations in town for being able to reach it's target audience. And those lanyards! Aren't you sick of seeing those around town? They handed them out en masse years ago, and you still see them everywhere. I was sad to see Manning go... but it doesn't seem like there have been many shake-ups since.
I agree with what was said earlier about Overnight talent. Firstly, it's a great way for folks to cut their teeth in the industry... so what if they stumble around a bit? They'll get better. I remember a certain Joan Deere on overnights on CISN and she wasn't the greatest... but look at her now. She's doing pretty darn good for herself, and she sounds fantastic. Overnight jocks are a staple for insomniacs and shift-workers. I can't remember how many times I was working overnights and hoping to listen to someone real. Someone who can tell me if there is something actually happening in the city in the night. If there is a big storm coming, I'm going to flip to the overnight person at CHED and listen for information. Let them stumble - at least I'm getting the news, and they're getting a break. And if I'm not mistaken, the overnights on CHED have gotten better.
And syndicated evenings? Oh, please! No one wants to hear Casey Clark blather on... it's almost as bad as that show that used to be on EZ Rock in the evenings. (Might still be --- I'll admit I don't listen.) Syndicated shows aren't what the listeners want. They want someone in their city, and they want to know what songs are playing. Someone earlier spoke negatively about CISN playing commercials instead of music during the syndicated commercials. Really? Are we going to blame them for being a business? I would hate for anyone to play commercials and pay our pay-cheques.
As for iNews880, let's not sink the ship yet. It's only a few months in.
I find this forum funny. At one side, they beat the dead horse about how horrible the young talent is. Then when a syndicated show or someone downsizes a newsroom they also beat up the decision. So which is it? Makes no sense around here sometimes.
Quoted from Sportfishing Enthusiast: "i don't always like the person talking on the radio (any station) at 4 in the morning, but i do appreciate what and why they're doing it."
Quoted from Flamethrower: "another subjective point I guess. Before working in radio I did over nights at a hotel and listened to the radio. I liked the FMs that had a jock on. I would listen to Jenna Chow on CFOX. She might have been VT'd but I think she was live a few nights a week as I think I recall the odd contest or caller.
Now, at night if I am up, I fire up satellite b/c I can get their "morning show" programming at 3AM."
not as subjective as it's just how i feel, lol... or my opinion
