It's Official Rob & Audie Reunite on Capital FM! August 15th, 2008: The NEW 96.3 Capital FM launched on March 28th of this year with a mantra of “Life’s Good, Sing Along.” People have embraced the station playing “Edmonton’s Greatest Hits.” Along with the great music of the 60s 70s and 80s, The NEW 96.3 Capital FM reunites two of the most popular morning hosts in this city’s history, Rob Christie and Audie Lynds. Capital FM’s Program Director, Craig Fee, says “they’ve won the Gold Medal at the International Radio Festival of New York as the best morning show in the world. It’s clear to me why they dominated the Edmonton radio market on 630 CHED and Power 92 for many years, and I’m thrilled they’re together again on The NEW 96.3 Capital FM.” Rob Christie weighed in by saying, “I like peanut butter.” Audie Lynds echoed with, “I love lamp.” You can expect legendary characters like Mr. Maynard, Captain Eyeliner and Earl the Soul Singer to join Rob & Audie in the Morning. It’s also unsafe to answer the phone in Edmonton now that “Christie’s Kidding” is pulling chains and yanking legs all over the city. (Note: This news release written on a patio.) Rob & Audie in the Morning debuts Tuesday September 2nd at 5:30am on the NEW 96.3 Capital FM, Edmonton’s Greatest Hits! So they've been on a few days now. Anyone been listening - thoughts? I must be missing the fun breaks. But I hear they're playing old bits from CHED or POWER 92. Is that even legal? What I do hear makes me feel like I'm in a time warp to 80's, which is the point I guess. |

Would be great if someone has a complete aircheck of their first show. I heard a portion which sounded great. But part of me has to wonder. Is the type of radio Rob and Audie are attempting to reserect too passe? The bit-driven "morning zoos" were all the rage in the 80s and early 90s, but this is 2008. Will listeners get the same chuckile from Captain Eyeliner and the san Francisco Pirates as they did twenty years ago? I'm by no means criticizing Rob and Audie, but just curious as to whether or not their brand of humour is still relevant to today's audience. |

I totaly agree with Donovan. I have listened the last few mornings. The old CHED/Power stuff is very old. All they played Tuesday morning was clips from the past 20 years. Unless they get into the "90"s", they won't last. I have never been a fan of Rob Christie...to much "I know this guy". "this is MY friend" from years ago" "this guy was my favorite fan" " I I I I I I " way to much ME ME ME ME ME..... Rob...there is no "I" or "ME in the word TEAM....figure that out.... Audie would have been good on his own! |

But aren't they targeting people that are stuck living in the past? I think what Edmonton radio has been missing all theses years is good solid Gay Pirate comedy. |

Maybe the powers that be decided to do something "different". Something resembling personality radio. I know, this is '08 and the concept seems weird to some. Anyone notice that even on music driven stations personality is still what makes AM-PM drive shows. JOE only has one personality left (Gary James). The rest couldn't ad-lib for 30 seconds to save their life. |

I was disappointed to hear the constant referral to the "good ol' days"...for those of us from another city, it smacks of one long in-joke we'll never be able to appreciate. Hope they can expand their horizons and get some new material working for them soon. The stuff they are trotting out now was SO of its time and didn't necessarily age well. |
