this begs the question, who the HELL has the time to watch brekkie television when you're busy getting yourself and your kids ready for work/school??

besides, the few times i have caught the morning drivel at Global, they're dishing up 80% of the same stories they had on the 6pm news only the reporter's voices have been edited out.

Here's my idea...a television show that STORMS a different neighbourhood every morning.  They just show up...unannounced and do the show from there.  Chat with the neighbours, get the neighbourhood news...cause a stir create a scene...get some talk happening.

That would be a very good idea, but wouldn't being live every single morning be very expensive to do? I'd say, do some sort of a community connection every week on BT or a Vancouver version of CityOnLine on BT all morning on Fridays, and really connect with the people (eg, phone poll, asking random people on the street about current issues, invite newsmakers in studio) . Who knows what Rogers is up to.

Liked Dave and Simi. I thought they were good together.
As you know, I worked on the Global morning show.

People want news in the morning. Global has a BC based show, that broadcasts around the province. Global dominates the news in BC. It doesn't take a brain surgeon people.

CTV spends a fortune on Canada AM - and tried to set up a west coast insert into the Toronto based show. Unfortunately, to get a BC audience, they need to dump the Toronto show entirely, among a few other things, and have a Vancouver based show. And that won't happen.

Looking good on TV is not a pre-requisite. Hell, I worked there for eight years, and most of the time I looked like a pile of crap. Morning news people have to be relatable. The average Global morning viewer is a 40-ish woman in the 'burbs. They're running around chasing kids, and getting them to school - they don't need to see some breast augmented babe first thing in the morning. (though apparently most of you guys do - lol)

'night!!

Ah Ms Daniels...you are so correct in saying we don't need to see augmented phony people reading the news, dishing us the weather forecast or traffic reports, especially first thing in the AM.

Have to say that you happen to be another person who our family was sad to see leave the TV arena.  Your personality is certainly missing from the news over at Global! It was good you gave us time to prepare for your departure to enter real estate. Dave and Simi weren't even given the opportunity to say goodbye! I will really miss the honest laughter that came from my husband when Dave would tell a story. We were often surprised that he was physically capable of returning the next day after the stories he told about his wife!!

Ah those were the good ol' days...

OK ... I tried.… I really tried. I have come to grips that Dave Gerry is off the air. I accept the fact that for whatever reason Global is the morning (afternoon evening etc leader). So I decided to drink the Global Kool-Aid and watch Steve & Lynn (see I am using their real names ...no cruel nicknames). "click" my TV goes on and I "switch" to channel 11 ...what do I see?.. a heart warming story about a tortoise that has lost a leg ( missed how) and a group of dedicated vets have come to its rescue by fashioning a prosthetic....ok a little fluff but its early no harm no foul... switch to the morning team...Steve and his angels all gushing about how sweet it is ...THEN he speaks ( as if on cue ! ? ) something about calling in the NASCAR  people to help this animal ...cause they are real good at this stuff.?????....then (as if on cue ! ? ) the ladies start laughing like they really thought he was clever... I spat the Kool - Aid out..Did you know that the CKNW morning news is on TV?

I too am very disappointed about the shake up at BT. Dave and Simi made my day. I'd love to see them land on Global. Then the folks who don't like changing channels would never have to.
Found earlier comments entertaining, but glad most people appreciated the repartee between the former dynamic duo. I've gone back to listening to CKNW.

I really like Dawn, Tanya and Mark - I hope that they stay on!

To be truthful - I'm not around enough to watch the various morning news programs. I often watch the Today show, and I love the Daily show with Jon Stewart for US stuff (seriously funny and informative)

Still will watch Global in the morning to catch the basics, when I have a chance.

OK, I have just returned from a beach fishing trip and tuned into the "latest" offering from the folks at CITY......if they think listening to Kyle Donaldson go on....and on...and on, about losing his ear piece yesterday and then miraculously finding it in his jacket pocket, will somehow improve the ratings over what Dave & Simi had to offer, they are in more trouble than we all originally thought. If you missed it folks, be thankful as it was perhaps...no, it WAS, the worst thing I have seen on TV in years and the worst part was that he actually thought it was worth repeating/sharing....complete with the odd giggle and chuckle thrown in so that us viewers would know it was funny. I can't believe I am saying this, but it's time to head back to Lumpy and Lynn.

For us Islanders, it is good to know that A Channel (can't they come up with something better to call themselves?) will be starting a morning show this Fall.  Global has the ratings, but the two anchors are so "cardboard", and personality lacking.  As for CITY, Dawn is the only good person left.  Too bad.

When he isn't talking about that he is talking about "shopping" and liking the Back Street Boys....Not that there is anything wrong with that !?!

Well they did drop "Channel" and just call themselves "A" now.  Hopefully their new morning show does better and doesn't get axed a second time.
