He played for 8 seasons in the CFL and spent another 19 in the television booth for TSN & CTV as an analyst, however today, all who knew Leif Pettersen are deeply saddened with the news of his passing at the age of 57.

Through my years in the sports broadcast business I have had the opportunity to work with many truly professional broadcasters and Leif Pettersen was one.  He brought strong knowledge and a passion for the CFL game to the broadcast booth which will be sorely missed.

To his immediate family and all who knew and worked with him, my thoughts and prayers.

It was a very tough life playing ball in the late 70's early 80's.  Juice was everywhere.  Just ask Dan Kepley.

Football is a tough way to earn a living, especially in that era.

That is very sad news

I loved talking football with him and saw him alot when Jim Lang & I did the Toronto Phantoms arena football broadcasts cause Leif was Jamie Campbell's colour guy for the telecasts and we all met pre game and exchanged notes and talked football.

He was a class act and will be missed.

Rest in peace my friend.
