Ottawa sports-radio personality Tim "Buzz" Kilpatrick succumbed Friday morning to complications from a lung infection. He was 41.
Kilpatrick, who began working for the TEAM 1200 about five years ago, was admitted to the General campus of the Ottawa Hospital last week, suffering from shortness of breath. Kilpatrick was diagnosed as having an infection in his lungs, and his condition quickly deteriorated. He died around 10 a.m. on Friday.
For those folks who were in Calgary that can remember - Tim was a key member of the KIK-FM morning show and was at KISS-FM, where he also worked on the morning show.
Tim and I rocked it hard from 1992-1994 during my tenure at KIK-FM. He will be sorely missed.
Another great loss. Tim was an incredibly funny guy, with a great laugh, and one of the most unassuming guys you could work with. "Jerry, Tim and Karen", with Steen, Kilpatrick and Daniels anchored KISS to a launch directly to the top back in '96. Those were good times. Great times. I wish they could've lasted a little longer. Only Tim could find a way to wear cowboy boots 24-7 working for a CHR.
I know Tim worked hard, and he played hard too. There's no question he got at least 80 years out of the 41 he lived.
Man, that's a kick in the nuts. '08's been a rough year for losing radio family.
Kick in the nuts indeed. I was pretty shocked to hear of this. I also worked with Tim (and apparently Bruce) at KIK in those days. Absolutely horrific how many former co-workers have passed away in the last few years. Tim was a funny guy and will definitely be missed.
I was shocked to hear about this. Tim "Buzz" and I worked together at CKSL in London back in the late 80s until the early 90s, when we both left to head out west. Howie Cogan told me about this over the weekend, too sad, too young.
I worked with Tim on the morning show at KIK in 92,93. Shocked and sad to hear about someone so young and young at heart passing. Tim never had a problem with us making him the butt of a joke on the show. He was unassuming and without ego as far as I could tell. You'll be misssed, Tim.

Local sports-radio personality Tim "Buzz" Kilpatrick succumbed to complications from a lung infection Friday.
He was 41.
Kilpatrick, who began working for the TEAM 1200 in 2002, was admitted to the General campus of the Ottawa Hospital last week, suffering from shortness of breath. Kilpatrick was diagnosed as having an infection in his lungs, and his condition quickly deteriorated. He died at about 10 a.m. yesterday.
Kilpatrick, raised in London, Ont., began working as a radio sports reporter in his home town before moving to Calgary in the early 1990s to work in radio there. He first worked at KICK-FM, again in sports, before moving to the station's morning show. He eventually joined another Calgary radio station, KISS-FM, where he also worked on the morning show.
Kilpatrick returned to London in the late 1990s to work at radio station CFPL. He came to Ottawa when he was hired by the TEAM 1200 six years ago. He was a co-host on the afternoon drive-home program with Don "The Dandyman" Romani before moving to the Three Guys on the Radio morning show.
Kilpatrick, who on the afternoon show played the straight shooter with the unpredictable Romani, was a bit of a fall guy on Three Guys on the Radio. The show's co-hosts, Steve Warne and "Stuntman Stu" Schwartz, and a former co-host, "Jungle" Jim Jerome, would often tease Kilpatrick about his taste in music, his penchant for younger girlfriends and his favourite hockey team -- the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Kilpatrick was also host of The Buzz on Junior Hockey.
Kilpatrick was on holidays when the illness struck. He had just returned to Ottawa from New York where he had gone to watch the Yankees play. Kilpatrick was a big fan of the baseball club.
TEAM 1200 program director Dave Mitchell said a tribute to Kilpatrick is planned on Monday's Three Guys on the Radio. As well, management will meet with staff following the program to talk about Kilpatrick's sudden passing.
