LOS ANGELES — Canadian comic Sean Cullen will have to wait until next week to find out if he'll be hanging on for another round of laughs on the reality TV show "Last Comic Standing."
The show's website says telephone and online voting to determine who will be eliminated will be open until 5 a.m. ET. on Friday and the results will be revealed during next week's show.
The curly-haired comedian from Peterborough, Ont., has so far avoided elimination in the contest, which is now into its sixth season and airs on Global.
Cullen, who often wears a black porkpie hat on stage, rose to fame as a member of the comedy troupe Corky and the Juice Pigs. The group toured around the world, releasing albums and performing eight times at the Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal.
In 1998, Cullen went solo, appearing on various late-night talk shows with his unique brand of comedy that often includes improvised song. He has also starred in a Canadian stage production of "The Producers," written two novels for young adults and hosts a show on CBC radio entitled "Simply Sean."
"Last Comic Standing," which also airs on NBC, is hosted by Bill Bellamy and sees hopefuls competing in standup comedy showdowns in Las Vegas.
The winner gets a $250,000 grand prize, including an exclusive talent deal with NBC.
