Frankie Hollywood is no longer with 107-3 Kool FM Victoria. He announced last week that he will be returning home to Nova Scotia in order to be closer to family. He will be the new morning host on Halifax's 101-3 The Bounce (formerly CJCH 920 AM). Friday was his last day, and Robin Farrell will continue on as morning host. I have an aircheck of his second to last day on Kool, which I'll post in the near future. Best of luck Frankie!

His name is no longer listed on the web site. Yes, definitely a short stay! Any speculation on possible replacements?

Why is it  broadcasters from the West are often shunned when they apply to the East? Appears no issues coming out West and stations paying the costs.

Stations paying costs? Have you looked at the economy? Despite what some on this board are claiming, Radio wages are far from professional. They are nothing more than transient. If a station is going to hire someone with experience, ask them to be professional and represent their company, the cost of the move should NEVER be a question.
Now for the rest of the story, as it relates to any MOVE to British Columbia (See PST and new to the pocket book CARBON TAX), the following is Victoria:
The cost of living in Victoria is higher than other cities in Canada; Victoria is currently considered one of the three most expensive housing markets in the country and has among the lowest rental vacancy rates (1.5 percent) of any Census Metropolitan Area in Canada.

Why would a Radio Professional leave Victoria?

I must be one of the lucky few. My way was paid for and I found a beautiful one bedroon place that was just in the final stages of being reno'd for $875/month. I'm in a beautiful area called View Royal and I have two 100 pound rotties as well.

You must not be in radio.  No radio person could afford to feed 200 pounds of Rottie and live in Victoria.

You'd be surprised how tasty, and economical milk on kibbles and bits can be. That and as a member of Bosley's, every 10th bag is free.

Hmmm...some interesting comments here, to be sure.  My current gig was a move of 2 provinces east-to-west, and had the whole thing covered.  If an employer really wants me, they'll foot the bill.  In fact, it would probably be a major sticking point if they didn't.  I also was lucky enough to find a just-renovated, large one-bedroom in an EXPENSIVE and tight market for $825/month, which includes all my utilities plus internet and cable.  Everything but my phone.

I suppose it's a tough call, depending on what side of the budget you're on.

I've moved from Vancouver to Alberta and then back to Victoria.  Both times the stations picked up at least some of the tab.

Had a radio buddy move from the Prairies to the Maritimes recently and was given a moving budget of several thousand dollars, which I thought was nice. He figured it still wasn't going to cover 100%, but close.
